  • Update #2: Wesdesday to Friday

Hello everyone!  Welcome to the second official update for Japan Team '07.  It's been almost a week since we've been here.  Most of the team will be coming back next Sunday.  Time is going by really fast.

"Have Fun in English!" classes are in full swing!  A good number of the people that are coming out to the classes don't go to church.  And so our eyes are wide open looking for an opportunity to share with them about Christ.

    Our adult beginner class.

    Adult bible class.

    Our adult advanced class.

Kindergarten english class playing with play-doh and exercising.

Wedneday afternoon was laundry day and a discovery of a great supermarket nearby.

That night, we had Wednesday night service.  Even though it was called a service, it felt more like small group since the church memebers went around sharing stories and prayer requests. It was a great time of fellowship and prayer.

On Thursday we had an outreach event at the central station in downtown Toyahashi.  We gave out all the tracks and fliers we brought and were able to talk to the people that gathered around us as we were playing songs for them.

Pictures of downtown Toyohashi and the venue we played at.

Besdies the fact that we came during the hottest week of the summer, we are falling in love with the people here at Toyahashi.  Sayonara!

  • First Days in Japan

Konichiwa!  This is our first official post for the Japan Team 07!  We were stranded from the modern world because we didn't have internet, but now that we do here are a bunch of pictures to recap our time here since Friday morning.

    Friday to Saturday

We stayed up all night on Friday for our flight at 6:45 AM because our drivers dropped us off at 2:30 in the morning at JFK.

Window seat view on our way to San Francisco.

Suburban city view on our way to Toyahashi from Nagoya Airport.

Japanese automobiles where drivers drive on the wrong side of the car, and drive on the wrong side of the road!

Kazuya's Sensei's infamous rules for UNO.

Nozomu and Shinya hung out with us the first night at Kazuya's Sensei's house.

    Sunday

    Toyahashi Christ Hosanna Church!

Abe Sensei giving the sermon for Youth Chapel on our first Sunday at the church.

Hayashi Sensei giving the sermon for the second service.  He has been the senior pastor of the church  for about 3 or 4 months ago.

This is Kotah eating lunch at the church after the service.

    Toyahashi church youth group!

We sang "Glory" and "Mighty to Save" for the welcome party in the afternoon.  Shinya helped out on drums and everyone else sang along.

The church's choir sang a song for us in English.  I think it was called "I belong to Jesus".

    Monday

Kindergarten class doing morning exercises before going swimming.

Orientation for English classes with JP Morgan.  Great name, great guy.

Yuzo sensei also helped us out with the orientation and organizing the English classes for us.

    Tuesday

Our first full day of classes.  Kindergarten class listening to a bible story before English lessons.

    English Elementary Class.

We had a worship workshop in the afternoon with Nozomu and Megumi.

    Jamming with the kids.

That brings us to now, Wednesday morning. We have another day of classes and spending time with the church.  Another update will come soon.  Please pray for us, the team, and our ministry here.  So far it's been SUGOI! AMAZING!
